Our Eco Friendly Bears

A million plastic bottles are purchased across the world every minute of the day, and the worrying fact is that this number will grow a further 20% by the end of 2023.

Around 8-9 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. That’s the equivalent of a garbage truck emptying plastic into the ocean every single minute!!

It’s believed the Great Pacific Garbage patch covers a surface area of 1.6 million square kilometres which is three times the size of France.

In the year 2050, plastic in our oceans will outweigh fish with 8-9 metric tons entering the sea every 12 months. The World Economic Forum predicts that the ocean will contain around 937 million tons of plastic and only 895 million tons of fish.

An astonishing 90 percent of toys sold in today's market are made from plastic, as per The World Counts — and that doesn’t even account for the billions of toy soldiers, Barbie dolls, and Lego bricks sitting in people’s attics at the moment. All of that plastic has to go somewhere when it’s no longer useful!

There are many projects that currently take place to try and reduce the amount of ocean plastic. These can range from local beach cleans to larger scale, high technology initiatives.

At Mood Bears, we are committed to changing these astonishing figures, and create our Bears to be as sustainable as possible.

Mood Bears are passionate about caring for the environment and teaching both children and adults about how the bears are made and sustainably sourced.

Each Mood Bear is made using specifically sourced recycled fabrics – Our large bears are made from around 16 recycled plastic bottles (PET), and around 8 for the mini bears!

This type of fabric makes each bear super soft and safety tested from birth, with a high-quality feel, for those extra special cuddles when you need it the most.

At Mood Bears, we are saving 1000’s of plastic bottles globally, per year.

We are excited to be able to contribute to sustainability and hope for a greener future one bear hug at a time.
